12 Days of Christmas #1

The First Day of Christmas

On the First Day of Christmas my true love gave to me a partridge in a pear tree! I am starting a new series for the twelve days of Christmas! I am sorry if I offend you by celebrating this holiday, it is the holiday I celebrate.

The photo is from here.

For the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me a great braided detail updo. There are a lot of steps here but in general this hair style is very easy! Hope you like it!!

  1. Start with your natural hair.
  2. Take a two inch section on either side of your hair and clip it back, along with any bangs or fringe that you may have.
  3. Then separate the hair above your ears on both sides and clip both back and out of the way.
  4. Take about a 2 inch section below your ear on either sides and clip up.
  5. Separate the very top of the hair, from the hair that is left and clip it out of the way.
  6. Tease the remaining hair on the bottom.
  7. Take the last section clipped and let it down.
  8. Smooth out hair.
  9. Pull hair into a ponytail, and secure it with a hair tie.
  10. Let the rest of the sections down.
  11. Pull bangs or fringe to the front (optional).
  12. Make a zig-zag part.
  13. Braid one of the side sections start loose then continue all the way down and secure with a hair tie.
  14. Repeat on the other side.
  15. Take ponytail and split it into two.
  16. Braid those two sections loosely all the way down and secure with hair tie.
  17. Loosen the top of the hair at the ponytail base.
  18. Turn ponytail under and create a little pouf.
  19. Secure that with pins.
  20. Pull one of pony tail braids to the top of the head.
  21. Lift up section of hair wherever your ponytail braid ends.
  22. Stick your finger through that section to hollow out an area for the end of braid.
  23. Stick end of braid through and pin into place.
  24. Repeat steps 20-23 on other side.
  25. Pull one of top braids around the bottom of the pouf you already created.
  26. Lift up ponytail braid or section of hair where it ends and pin it into place.
  27. Repeat steps 25 and 26 on other side.
  28. Separate two remaining sections.
  29. Take one of the sections and begin to braid away from the side of the head that it starts on.
  30. Braid all the way down and secure with a hair tie.
  31. Wrap that braid and pin it alongside the other braids.
  32. Repeat steps 29-31 on other side.
  33. Your done!!

Kate
